Tony joined Allen Partners as a Senior Advisor in 2017 after retiring from a successful career as a corporate lawyer.  Tony was a partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques for over 30 years including many years as head of M&A before joining Gilbert + Tobin where he was a corporate partner for more than 5 years.  He also spent approximately 4 years at Goldman Sachs’ Australian office following the merger with JBWere ,as a managing director and head of M&A.  During his career Tony has worked on many significant transactions in particular in public M&A including the takeovers of TNT by KPN and GIO by AMP and the Fosters takeover of Rosemont.  Tony has also acted on the creation of Evolution a major company in the gold sector by the merger of Conquest and Catalpa and the contemporaneous acquisition of significant assets from Newcrest.  In the non-public space, Tony represented Cimic in a number of acquisitions and divestitures.  He also advised on demerger transactions and the creation of the Brambles GKN dual listed company structure.  In addition, Tony has been involved in significant IPO’s and capital raising including many of the major government privatisations such as CBA and Telstra and the re-float of Woolworths.  Tony has also participated in a number of the major Australian infrastructure projects principally representing large offshore funds investments into those projects.  Tony has BA and Masters of Laws degrees from the University of Sydney.
