David Vella

David joined Allen Partners in 2019, bringing over 25 years of experience across institutional investment management, superannuation, funds management, and capital markets. His expertise spans both private and public markets across multiple asset classes.

Prior to Allen Partners, David served as Portfolio Manager – Growth Assets at First State Super (now Aware Super), one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds. As a key member of the investment team, he helped oversee the fund’s growth from $8bn to over $70bn in funds under management. During his tenure, he led the structuring of equity sector strategies that each grew from $2bn to over $10bn while outperforming their respective benchmarks. He was also instrumental in building out the fund’s Private Equity and Venture Capital program, which committed over US$2bn within three years.

Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at CMC Markets Australia, BT Financial Group, and Westpac Investment Management.

David holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mathematics) and a Bachelor of Business (Finance) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
